A different stripe

It begins to feel like a regular Saturday Market, i.e. the locus for weirdness in the Eugene universe. We had teenage boys on high-tech unicycles: I think they were electric, but it was hard to tell, aside from the LEDs. In any event, big silent wheels, lean toes forward to go, heel back to stop, surprisingly graceful. I have no idea what they were doing with the hula hoops. Would have liked to seen them in use on wheels.
Then there were the creepies. Two Land Walkers, a la The Dark Crystal, but in black and white, spider-webby and masked and more than a little bit eerie. They were accompanied by a human walker, also in monochrome and mask, tho I didn't get him in the frame. Tried to record some video, but wasn't successful; Vanessa from Market was, you can see her efforts here.

And then there was this guy. Sorry for the crappy photo, he was already crossing the street when my brain registered what I was seeing: A 10-foot tall junk sculpture of an ostrich on wheels, with the motto Vote! on the base.
I'm not entirely sure of the symbolism--Don't bury your head in the sand, maybe? I think I agree with him.
Can't say the same for the drive-by hooting that happened around 5:30, during take-down. About a dozen vehicles, many monster trucks, festooned with American flags and Trump banners, horns honking--of course--drove through on Oak street twice before peeling off to inflict themselves on some other innocent neighborhood.
I get what they think they're doing--let's go harass the hippies!--but really, it's kinda pathetic, if that's the best they can do for political discourse. I kinda want to take them aside and tell them I want my flag back after their candidate's done wiping his ass with it.
Okay, they pissed me off a little.
That said, excellent Market, another new sales record. Two more for me--one on Halloween--then I move one space to the right for Holiday Market.
