Aug. 21st, 2025 10:24 pmTo address our core constituency!
Okay, so I hate to pass up free food. Especially when it's tasty, tasty apples and pears.
I went and gathered another big bowl of mystery red apple and Bartlett pear windfalls from the Lutherans' lot next door. Only problem? No room in the fridge for them, we've already got two baskets of Gravensteins from our tree in there.

So after I pulled 61 handles this morning, I cored and de-bruised one of the baskets of Gravensteins. Sliced them up into freezer bags and froze down two pies' worth of filling for winter. The other basket will get used to make a pie for the Local Clay picnic on Sunday, and the Lutheran fruit will get butchered and store in the fridge for snacking.
Making room for the Cox's Orange Pippins, which should be ready in another couple of weeks.
