We are all Spartacus
Jul. 16th, 2016 06:53 amChecking in at the Salem Art Fair and Festival Thursday, I went through my packet and discovered that, although my name badge was spelled correctly (Gosar), Denise's was spelled "Gosser." I pointed this out to a bemused volunteer, who made a note to have it redone. I also noticed that my booth sign said "Salem, OR" instead of Eugene, and she took it inside as well.
A minute later, she was back with the sign. "That's okay," she said, "They all say that."
Huh?
Walking around the fair Friday morning, I see a lot of us have amended our signs with pen or marker. It's been a running gag with the customers: "Oh, another one from here in Salem?"
I'd taken mine home Thursday night and printed "Eugene" in 48 pt Avant Garde on a mailing label, it looks neat and tidy (and correct) when the slightly embarrassed lady from the show comes around late Friday afternoon with reprinted signs for everyone.
