You'd think I could take a break.

My August show is history, next big event isn't until October. I don't even have any time-sensitive special orders. Time to relax, right?

Heh. To begin with, my inventory took a huge hit at Anacortes. I'm entirely out of stick butter dishes, medium serving bowls, small batter bowls. At least six patterns of stew mugs and four or five painted mugs have run out as well. And there are hardly any dessert plates in the restock box, nor pitchers or baking dishes. I have been throwing pots like a madman; I got a ton of clay delivered Monday before last, and have already gotten through nearly a quarter of it.

Meanwhile, I've been tied to my computer. I'm Graphic Design chair for Clay Fest, Clayfolk (the show as well as the organization), and also do art for my own and Denise's businesses. So in the past three weeks, I've done:

  • Poster and postcard for Clay Fest. Social Media panels for Clay Fest. Digital billboards for Clay Fest.
  • Ads for Off Center Ceramics and Pulp Romances for the Holiday Market Guidebook.
  • Digital flyer for a Clayfolk Brush-Making workshop. (That's happening the same weekend as Clay Fest, and don't think I'm not salty about that.)
  • Poster, postcard, social media panels and bookmark for Clayfolk's fall show and sale. Also redesigned and solicited bids for our 3 by 6-foot road signs.
  • Revised Clay Fest booth map for our Pipe and Drape chair and Set-Up chairs.

Not to mention all of the ordering, uploading, driving postcards to the mailing service, picking up posters from the printer. I'm surprised my computer hasn't had a meltdown.

Add in three afternoon meetings this week alone, and I'm about ready to collapse.

Meanwhile, I've got a basket of windfall apples in the fridge, have already picked about six quarts of blackberries in the back yard, with more coming on.

So I'm declaring a holiday. Just for Labor Day weekend, I'm not doing Saturday Market. It's gonna be hot, it'll probably be slow--last week certainly was--and honestly? I need to get started glazing.
