I went ahead and confirmed I'd be at Saturday Market last weekend despite the heat. I knew my space was reliably shady, and I hate missing two weeks in a row (after last weekend in Roseburg). I was experienced, I was prepared.

Heh.

Here is a list of things I forgot:

1. Extra money in my wallet for Farmer's Market. I always like to stock up on fresh produce every Saturday. Salad mix, cukes, snap peas; blueberries and raspberries and early peaches. I usually put a couple of extra $20s in there, which I hadn't this morning. Fortunately, I keep an extra set of booth change in the back of the belly pouch that I was able to raid.

2. Salad dressing. I've been having a big salad for lunch, preparing the veggies and lettuce the night before, then dressing it and adding some nuts, for crunch, in the morning. Guess who forgot the final steps and just put it in the cooler? I tried two bites before giving up and buying a taco salad from the food court.

3. Neck cooler. I know, right? I'd even put it in a ziplock full of water to rehydrate and left it in the fridge overnight. Had to improvise one from twisted paper towels, which cooled all right, but dried out really fast.

4. My checkbook. Needed to pay my booth fee at the end of the day; I'd even left it out at my place at the table, next to the belly pouch, the show bag and the day's bear. Should have put it in the bag, or better still, in my pants pocket. Fortunately, I had enough cash to cover, including exact change for the 90¢ left over from Farmer's Market.

5. Bonus entry: Things Saturday Market forgot. If you leave your water bottle filling station in the sun, the water will taste like nasty garden hose plastic, and no one will be able to drink it.

Even so, it was a really good day. Busy morning, lots of California tourists. I sold a teapot just after 10 am, turned the first page of my sales book by 11. Second page was full at 12:30 pm, though after that things slowed down. Still topped $900 for the day, which is about five times my weekend's take at Art and the Vineyard. Posted cooling beach pottery pics to Instagram, and even sold one of them, a kingfisher bowl.
