I don't take idleness well. I'm the kind of person who procrastinates by doing four other things. I schedule my vacations. Relax? Never tried it.

So taking Saturday off from Market to be with Denise left me with a bunch of free time. (There's only so many cups of tea one can fetch.) So I put it to good use, making an exchange book for our May Book Arts Group meeting. The topic was nose/scents, which left me stymied at first. Did flowers last May, and the idea of doing human nose studies was... not inspiring.

But who says it's gotta be humans?

Introducing Gnosis, which the dictionary defines as having specialized or esoteric knowledge (usually religious in nature), but I was happy to redefine as "being able to identify animals from their noses." Had so much fun drawing animals--it's what I do, after all--that I wound up making two volumes, one to exchange, one to keep. Pictures are from the exchange copy. And yes, that cover is paste paper made in our workshop in Newport, two weeks ago.

No nose is clearly not good nose -- more noses the better!

It was delightful to hold that in my hand and look through it!
