This weekend

We've had a slight change of plans for this weekend; Denise is getting around pretty well, we've figured out systems for getting her in and out of bed, chairs, the dining room table. Bathroom is accessible. Pain is being managed. However.

One of the things that's helping with all of this is a drip-pack of numbing agent, delivered subcutaneously, that she wore home from the hospital on Thursday. It runs out tonight. I'm concerned that all of the "managing fine" might fall apart in its wake.

Plus the weather is predicted to be really crappy tomorrow.

So I'm bailing out of Saturday Market tomorrow and staying home with her. I know, it's Mother's Day, sales, yadda yadda. Don't care.

I have a fall-back plan, however. Sunday, May 8, Maude Kerns Art Center is holding a fundraising event, and Club Mud will be participating. So I'll be down there for the day, in a simple, indoor set-up, selling and demoing, while a friend from our book group stays here with Denise. If anyone desperately needs to find me for that last-minute prezzie, I've let the Market staff know to send them there.

Actually, I kinda do. I was the kid who never cut class, never missed Mass, always did his homework. Permission to bail is a hard thing to give myself.
