As much as I enjoy cooler fall weather, even rain, it makes it hard to be a potter. I've been busily turning out ware, filling my shelves, and nothing is dry enough to fire.

Once the first kiln load is firing, of course, I can use waste heat to dry the next, and the next, but if it's cool, grey and humid, I can't get over that first hump.

So I was relieved to see sunshine this morning, even if the angle of the sun is such that most of my driveway and all of my front and back yards are shaded. I got most of the pasta bowls and pie plates dry, all of the honey jars and dinner plates. The forty tall mugs will need another day out there. Fortunately, the weather is predicted nice for the next couple of days.

I guess I am glad *someone* likes the sun. Me, I want to know where my 9 months of clouds went. (I know where it went: climate change. Still. Grumpy.)
