Quarantine baking
Apr. 25th, 2020 10:11 amEveryone else is showing off their quarantine bakery, while I'm trading coffee mugs for my daily bread. So yesterday I took a day off from the pottery studio, mostly to catch up on office work, but also to have a little fun in the kitchen.

These are baked Pączki; Polish-style jelly-filled doughnuts. I often have trouble getting yeast doughs to rise in my cold kitchen, and I always have trouble with doughnuts deflating on the way to the fry pan. These guys solve both problems! Single rise, right on the baking sheet, and they puff up and bake beautifully. Brush with melted butter, toss with sugar, fill with homemade blackberry jam. (My Christmas cookie press happens to also a doughnut-filler attachment.)
Got the recipe from Jenny Can Cook, on YouTube.
