Another weird firing

I've completely gone off the excitement of opening a kiln. The gas kiln at Club Mud is just hard to control. Still getting patches of oxidation, currently in a different spot than previous, but the back and particularly top is massively over-reduced. The white glaze is brown, which makes it difficult to appreciate all my hard work in painting.

I can resurrect the pots somewhat by retiring in my electric kiln, but that's a lot of work, not to mention extra cost.

Sigh.

I did get some nice things out of the kiln though, in particular, these two grandchildren's plates.

What is it about kids, that they don't want their food to touch?

But on a happier note

After struggling all week to schedule an appointment through the Lane County COVID site, I asked at my pharmacy (BiMart, River Road), how they scheduled appointments. The sympathetic pharmacist explained that they had a link on their website that I should check; they're currently out, but will post as new vaccine becomes available.

So I went home and checked their site, and for good measure, the other two pharmacies in my neighborhood, Walgreens and Fred Meyer. Neither had any slots, but Freddies had an easy link to look for availability at other locations...

So Friday, I'm driving up to Corvallis to get my first Moderna shot.

So relieved.

ETA: Well, I got Pfizer instead of Moderna, but still happy. Second shot is already scheduled for April 23.
