covered pitcher
Covered pitchers on today's throwing list--I sold the last one at Clay Fest. Lid is thrown flat, then domed on a bisque form. I balance it on top and then thump it against the wheel head.

big teapot

Also this monster, a (hopefully) eight-cup teapot. Special order, wants two lids to go with it. I tried to make a couple in my last firing, and though they turned out lovely, they only held six cups, despite my best calculations. (My normal teapot starts with two pounds of clay, and holds four cups. Doubling the size ought to involve the square-cube law, since volume is a function of the cube of the radius, while weight of a hollow pot is determined by the surface area, hence square. Did I mention I was a math/art double major?)

So this time I calculated the diameter of a sphere of eight cups (well, two liters--metric is much easier to deal with), expanded to account for shrinkage, and tried four pounds of clay, and this is what I got.
