Well, I had a spectacular firing this last time. Consistent temperature, mostly consistent reduction--no white patches, no extreme brown pots. And some very important commissions in the mix.

There was the Florida dinner set, for example. Eight pieces each of dinner, dessert plates, bowls and mugs, each a different pattern chosen from a list of birds and animals native to their environment. I sent them the first four pieces from stock in hand, so did eight sets to be sure I had seven to send them. And they all turned out. I've got a hard choice coming up, deciding which piece to hold back. Here's a few examples; you can see the rest at my Flickr site.

And then there was the set of grandchildren plates, dinner plates with dividers for food and lots of pictures. And names. Have I mentioned how I stress about names? My brush drawing is unimpeachable; my brush calligraphy less so. But they all turned out well too. Here's a few examples. (Full set here.)

So now it's back to business. Telephoning or emailing customers, preparing invoices, packing, shipping. Recycling clay so I can start the whole process over again.
