All in a day's work
May. 26th, 2015 02:30 pmSo I get the coolest orders sometimes. This one is an eight-place table setting--mugs, bowls, dinner and dessert plates--for a couple in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. After seeing my work on my website, he called up to talk terms, and I (ahem!) may have happened to mention the folks down in Roseburg who have been purchasing a dinner set, a few places at a time, with a different pattern on each piece…
He wound up ordering one setting--four pieces--from stock in hand, and I shipped them off so they could see how they liked the size and feel of them.
About a week later, I got an email. With about a two-page list of native Florida birds and beasts, an order for seven more place settings, my choice of patterns, all different. My favorite kind of order!
It took a solid day's glazing to make all 32 items (a spare of each, of course). Here's a few samples.

All in the kiln right now. Holding my breath…
