Got an email this morning that read, in part:

...By the way. I am so appreciative of how well you pack your shipments.  The box that arrived yesterday was “trashed” .  The UPS driver took a photo to document the condition.  We were both shocked.  I also took a photo it is attached.  The casserole arrived unscathed from its adventure :))

Thanks,

Linda

All I can say is, Thank God for bubble wrap. The large-cell kind.

I've bought quite a few delicate porcelain deer on eBay in the past. Stuff needs to be packed in a way that will survive a two story drop. Small packages do better than large packages. Back them I would ask that the item be packed box-in-box with lots of packing material, to keep down damage from shaking.

Balloon charge and ease of getting dented and crushed are two strikes against larger packages. The bubblewrap cocoon is good too although it's tricky to extract some of the more delicate stuff from the cocoon. Your casserole's safe arrival shows that you pack well. ^_^ Back when eBay was fun I filled large bags full of those styrofoam peanuts from the boxes I had received. I found a small shop selling knickknacks in town and I gave them the packing peanuts. New life for old packing material!
