The perfect match

offcntrSometimes, the perfect person finds the perfect pot, like the woman who does opossum rescue finding my possum dinner plate, or the guys with peacocks and the peacock cookie jar. (And, later when one came to pick up his jar, the peacock oval platter as well.)
And then there was this time.
I've had a javelina pasta bowl at the bottom of my restock box for nearly two years. It's an orphan from a special order, a set of dishes going to Arizona. It was a sweet little painting, but I never quite put it on display, thinking "Who the heck here knows what a javelina is?" And so it sat.
Sunday, I'd sold all but one squared baker, the oval platter, and an elephant pasta bowl, and it was either put out the javelina or leave an empty space. (Repeat after me, boys and girls and enbys: An empty shelf is a missed opportunity.)
Two hours later, a young couple walk into the booth. He's wearing a t-shirt that says "Texas A & M - Kingsville: Home of the Javelinas."
Excuse me, I say, I have to show you this.
Cue shock and awe. "You have to get it, don't you?" she asks. "I really do."
And that is how I finally found the perfect home for the javelina bowl.
