...by licking my armpit!

Which lead to me driving down to Club Mud at 5 am, and let me tell you, it's dark. Barely a month since Solstice, and no sign of dawn on the horizon.

Things I notice that I wouldn't in the daytime:

1. The "Keep Right" sign at River Road and Beltline. It may be brand new, or it may have been there forever, but I notice it for the first time in my headlights while I wait for the light. In daytime, with traffic, I'm too focused on where I'm going. Alone it the dark, it jumps out at me.

2. Phoenix rising. Denise and I noticed yesterday that the Phoenix Inn on Franklin seems to be undergoing renovation: screen fencing, construction dumpster, cherry-picker forklift. No words on the marquee. We assume it's closed, but this morning, the lobby and ground floor are fully lit, so I don't know if it's occupied, or on automatic.

3. Alien bus stops. All the EmX mini-stations along Franklin are lit by bright blue LED tubes, glowing eerily in the pre-dawn. They must look amazing in fog.

The kiln is ready for body reduction as I come through the door--cone 08 down on top, soft bottom--so I suppose I should thank Tiki for her assistance when I get home this evening.

you are so right

Huh, here on Long Island there are signs of dawn on the horizon at 5 AM. Then again, we are really far east for our time zone. It took me quite a few years to get used to how different the sunrise and sunset are from Washington DC, where I used to live.
