Some assembly required
Jul. 15th, 2019 09:34 pmGlazing again. Discovered while sorting all my inventories into two useful pages (one for the van, one for the shed) that I only had three small covered crocks left.
Not sure how that happened; it's not like they're super big sellers. Most likely, I just put off making more because I didn't expect them to sell, so when they actually did... whoops, time to make more. Eight, this firing.

They're basically miniature, single-service casserole dishes, but a little easier to make. The handle is extruded, rather than pulled, for one thing, goes on much faster. And the lid is small enough to throw in one piece, right-side up, with knob attached. I then cut it off and tap it over a bisque form to dome it a little. Much faster than the big lids, which are thrown upside-down as shallow bowls, which I then need to flip, trim, and throw a knob in place on.
There's still the jigger-pokery with the calipers to make sure the lid and base fit, and no matter how hard I try, I can't make them all the same size.

So I have to be very careful to keep them in order as I glaze them, else I have to spend 20 minutes figuring out which lid fits which pot.
