Got an email from Corvallis Fall Festival yesterday. I'm wait-listed for their September event.

Well, crumbs. That makes two of five for this summer, joining Salem in July. On the bright side, I also got an acceptance last week from Silverton Fine Arts Festival. So I have one June show, The UVAA Summer Arts Festival in Roseburg. Nothing in July beyond joining the Club Mud group installation at Art and the Vineyard. Two shows in August, the Anacortes Arts Festival the first weekend, and Silverton on the third. And then nothing until Clay Fest in October.

In a way, it's a bit of a relief. Although we did well at Corvallis last year, it also was extra work, just as I'm doing advertising and publicity for Clay Fest and Clayfolk, and it kinda left me low on stock for the Eugene show. In the same way, not doing Salem has left me time and energy to teach a print-making workshop for Maude Kerns Art Center in July (and a repeat, for Denise's book arts group, the following weekend). And not applying for Edmonds (June) in the first place gave us the time to do things like a quick trip back to the midwest to celebrate our anniversary (and graduation for a niece and nephew).

It's just that, for so long, we were always desperate for money; getting into more shows, bigger shows meant the difference between paying the bills on time and using my overdraft to cover September's rent. We're in a much better place, financially, these days, but I still feel like that hard-up beginner, desperate for every scrap of cash. Need to work on that a bit.
