Even then

I stopped in at the Schrager-Clarke gallery Saturday to revisit my ancient past. Some of it holds up--the story tile had already sold, in fact, and both gallery owners and attendees were charmed by it. I'm of half a mind to organize a retrospective show, a mixture of these and my more current sculptural work, just for fun.

You may remember my little piece about meeting pots from the past, The Skeleton in the Cupboard? Well, one of those skeletons clawed its way out of the grave and bit me last weekend.

It was in a gallery, no less, featured in a "Secondary Sale" show, work from people's collections (or estates). In this case, it was an early pie plate, blue jay pattern, probably from the early 1990's. I'm guessing it was purchased at the Craft Center's staff Holiday Sale, though I can't discount the possibility that it was purchased at the Lonely Pots (seconds) sale.

In any event, it sold while I was there, so I couldn't discreetly edge it off the pedestal to break on the floor. Was carpeted anyway, so that wouldn't have worked.

Sigh. For comparison, the blue jay, then and now(ish).
